Jennifer Anne Whybrow (nee Robinson) Memorial Award |
|
This endowment was created by Michael Robinson in memory of his wife, Jennifer Anne Whybrow (nee Robinson), who graduated from Waterloo Lutheran University, as Laurier was then known, in 1968 with an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. She graduated at the top of her class, earning the Alumni Association University Gold Medal for her high academic achievement in Economics. Jennifer was a trailblazer in every sense of the word. She was the only woman to graduate from the Economics program at Waterloo Lutheran University in her year and continued this trend as the only woman in her Masters program at the University of British Columbia. Michael would like this award to be given to a student who achieves high academic excellence and who is in financial need, as this is reflective of Jennifer's situation while attending Waterloo Lutheran University.
Eligible candidates are full-time undergraduate students entering Year 2 of the Honours Economics program who have a minimum cumulative GPA of 10.0 (A-) and demonstrate financial need.
The award will be granted to the eligible candidate who has the highest cumulative GPA after Year 1 and demonstrates financial need. The award is renewable in consequent years of full-time study in the same academic program if the incumbent maintains a minimum cumulative GPA of 10.0 and continues to demonstrate financial need.
No new recipient will be named in years in which the incumbent is granted renewal. |
